Sadly, it is unable to meld the two sides together to form a seamless show, and that is really to bad because Ai Yori Aoshi could have been really something special. She supplied him with a photo of two children whom Kauru immediately identified as himself and Aoi Sakuraba, his childhood friend. Had it decided to stick with one or the other, it would have worked beautifully. Not knowing what to do next, Kaoru invited the devastated girl to his apartment and asked for any additional clues to her destination.
